What does ESL stand for? What does it mean to be in ESL? What challenges do ELLs face in school? These are all questions teachers discuss when looking to support ELLs in English speaking classrooms. This 8th grade ESL class investigated the question: as an ESL student, how can you help your teachers become aware of what it means to be bilingual, what benefits and strengths you bring to the classroom, and what challenges you face while you are simultaneously learning English and academic content? Students will then create a presentation to give to the 6th and 7th grade ESL 3 classes as well as a presentation to give to Hadley school staff in order to become familiar with the ESL program as well as the learning needs of ELLs.
